Ohio Poeppelman Family Tree
Johann Heinrich Poeppelman (1806-1889) &
Catherina Maria Baumer (1814-1884)
In 1837, Johann Heinrich Pöppelmann from Rüschendorf near Damme emigrated with his wife on the ship "Ernst & Gustav" from Bremerhaven to Baltimore and settled in Minster, Ohio.
Heinrich and Catherina were the first Pöppelmanns to settle in Ohio where Johann Heinrich changed his name to Henry Poeppelman. His last will can be found here. He and Catherina had seven children, most of whom made their own families of a similar size. Their descendants still live mainly in the four neighboring counties Auglaize, Darke, Shelby and Mercer in western Ohio. They gradually built six farms in the Fort Loramie area. Five of these farms are still operational today. The names of many other families there are clearly traceable to the Damme area. Here you can find some information about Henry and Catherina's children and their families as well as recent pictures of their farms.Simply click on the names below to find out more about each line of the family. |
